Born and raised in Macon, Georgia, Joyce Farmer’s unwavering precision and confidence have made her a seasoned law enforcement professional with over 30 years of dedicated service in Fulton County, Georgia. Her journey began in 1989 when she began a career at the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. 

Twenty-five (25) years were spent working closely with inmates within the walls of the Fulton County Jail. Throughout her extensive tenure, Joyce demonstrated a remarkable ability to excel in various intricate roles. Her dedication to her profession serves as an inspiration to many. Joyce’s noteworthy career spanned multiple crucial areas, showcasing her adaptability and mastery. 

She served as a disciplined Field Training Officer, passing on her expertise and skills to future law enforcement professionals. Her significant contributions to Adult and Juvenile Court proceedings ensured that justice and fairness prevailed in the legal system. With utmost dedication, she carried out her roles in Intake Booking, Inmate Housing and Safety, Visitation, Bonding and Release, and the Warrant Division. Joyce’s commitment to her work inspires us to strive for excellence in everything we do.

It’s inspiring to see how Joyce went above and beyond her daily duties to excel in her profession. She dedicated herself to obtaining numerous law enforcement certifications in Supervision and Management, which showcases her strong leadership skills and commitment to excellence. 

Joyce’s successful completion of over 3,000 hours of Georgia Peace Officer Standards Training (P.O.S.T) is a strong testament to her dedication to staying ahead in her field.

Her impressive service didn’t go unnoticed, as she received multiple recognitions from the Fulton County Government, which is a true reflection of her unwavering dedication. It is worth mentioning that Joyce’s commitment to law enforcement went beyond just local recognition.

It is heartening to know that her expertise and dedication to justice were highlighted to a wider audience through her appearance on the highly televised A&E Television Show, “Beyond Scared Straight.”

It must have been a bittersweet moment for Joyce Farmer when she retired from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department in November 2018. From the moment she joined the East Point Police Department, Joyce has been tirelessly committed to serving her community, protecting her fellow citizens, and upholding the law with the utmost dedication.

Joyce’s journey began in Macon, but her path led her to Atlanta, where she pursued her education at Morris Brown College. She is not just a law enforcement professional; Joyce is a proud mother of three children. Two of her children serve with pride in the United States military, which showcases her dedication to both her family and her country. Her youngest son’s involvement in the Special Olympics and the Miracle League reveals her appreciation for diverse family dynamics, and she treasures the time she spends with her loved ones, particularly during the holiday season.

It’s truly inspiring to see how much Joyce cares about her profession, family, and community. She has a true passion for community service, and it is shown in the way she frequently participates in and organizes events like the City of East Point Food Drive.
